February 4th, 2013 Face #4

For my 4th face I decided to paint one of my roosters.  I've painted him before calling it a "Cluck Shot" but this time wanted to add background and his criminal record number to his sign.  Bad Chirpy!!

This was a fun one.. I plan on integrating a few animal faces throughout this challenge..  Too much fun! :D

25 faces to go! :D

Face #3 February 3rd, 2013

My 3rd Faces in the 29 Faces challenge.  I feel I'm learning more as I paint faces which is something I don't usually paint so trying to find a style as I go.  I really like this one a lot.  She came together really nicely and it's just made more determined to master faces and perhaps a new style I paint along with my still lives.

4"x4" x 3/4" acrylic on Canvas.. sides painted black.  Contact me if you are interested. Soon these will be uploaded to my Etsy store.

Again..  No name yet.. but I did decide for face #2 after many suggestions to go with Diana's suggestion of Vanessa as she did look like a Vanessa. Thanks Diana! :)

Face #2 February 2nd, 2013

This is my 2nd face in the 29 Faces challenge.  She was so fun to paint and I'm loving trying new things.

Trying to think of a name for her..  for now she's nameless..  She sort of reminds me of a Sophie or Sophia..    I love her heart pin in her hair.

4x4x 3/4" acrylic on canvas.. will be putting these in my Etsy store soon. Contact me if you are interested in any you see!

27 more to go! :D

29 Faces.. Face #1 February 2013

My first Face in the 29 Faces challenge.  Painting faces isn't something I normally do, so I'm going to have fun with this and try some new things.  I am really enjoying this challenge!

I like this girl.. in her Polish pottery dots dress and her rooster pin.. that looks like my rooster, Sprinkles.

I plan on doing all of my faces on 4x4 canvases.. and I'll probably add them to Etsy as I do them.. every few days or so. Contact me if you see one you are interested in..

I think I'm going to call her Helga. ;D

Back to painting after a spotty 2012.   I entered Nibblefest Art Contest  (NFAC) this month.. Theme is "5 Random Things" so I created this still life with a few random things.   A Polish pottery mug (well of course!), scissors, bottle of wine, napkin, valentine's day hershey caramel kisses.. (yum!) and a glass bird inside the mug..  A little figurine I bought in Poland.. really cute!

This is acrylics painted on a 9x12x1 3/8" canvas.. ready to hang! :)   Nibblefest is a monthly art contest I try and participate in when I can.  All entries start at 99cents no reserve. :)

Auction here. Ends Sunday!!!!  January 27th evening.

Nibblefest May

I have been creating art pendants on scrabble tiles, glass tiles and in bezels which I have been adding to my Etsy store here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/88heather

Theme for May Nibblefest is Villages or Townscapes, so I thought I'd create a glass tile art pendant from my painting, "Venice Abandoned".    I thought it made a beautiful pendant.   I adhered an archival print to a glass tile and signed the back which you can see in the pics.   Listing is for the pendant and a necklace.  Winner needs to just message me if they want to choose a different colored organza necklace or ball chain necklace or I'll send with the black organza necklace that is shown in the photo going through the bail.

Auction ends May 27th evening.

March Nibblefest "Absracts"!!! :)

I absolutely LOVE abstracts but rarely paint them.  I have to say I was very happy with this abstract that I am really itching to do more of them!  Of course I still will do my still life's and other things, but I hope to incorporate more abstracts.  Well I know not everyone "gets" abstracts.  I have some people tell me.. "I just don't like them" while others just adore them.  I love seeing the colors on the canvas.. the textures and you can look at them and find things within the painting.. It can mean different things to different people.  That's why I love them.  Now my 9 year old. I said to him, "Ryan.. what do you think of my painting?".. His reply, "I don't get it!"   That made me laugh!

Anyway.. this is my entry ending TODAY!!!  I should of blogged it earlier but this was only a 3 day auction.  It's on a 16x16x1.5" canvas.. It's very textured and scraped up.  I have to say it was so fun to do and I love the colors!

Sides are painted black and it's ready to hang!

Click on the pic to go to the auction!  Thanks for looking! :D

upclose.. see all the texture! :)
