Oh boy.. my painting end of month count is embarrassing.. Sure didn't make 30 paintings but I did paint most days till this week when a cold hit the family.. so I guess my last one for the month. I actually completed this a few days ago but hadn't posted here yet with all the chaos in the house.
Painted from my friend Deb @ Faith Love Hope Ranch in Oregon.. one of her baby Texas Longhorns
For the eBay Nibblefest Art Contest theme of "Enchanted Forest" my entry based on a photo I took of my white collie in the forest at sunset. He loves to stand like this with his front feet perched on the tree stump.
As always all entries start at 99cents and no reserve.
wow I'm behind on this challenge! This is my 3rd painting. I'm going for all 30 paintings even if it takes me 60 or 90 days. I've been painting everyday but haven't had a lot of time this past week and have gotten so behind.
This painting is #3 and also a pet memorial commission and gift. Was great to be part of such a nice pet commission gift. My friend Michelle wanted to gift this to her friend after she lost her sweet Pittbull mix, Layla girl. A surprise gift she received today so now I can post it online, I'm offering (with her permission) prints of this dog in my Amazon and Etsy shop.
I have been painting every single day and feel behind on the challenge. I guess the goal is to paint everyday and that is accomplished. I will be picking up the pace and hope to get as many paintings as I possibly can this month AND paint every single day! (an accomplishment in itself!)
Anyway.. Posting this one on day 5 of the challenge. This was painted from a photo I took of my dog Gumbo. He was sitting down outside with the forest in the background. Painted this a bit looser and it was so fun. I know that face so well he was so very easy for me to paint! I love this dog!
Now on to painting #3 but I can't post it.. it's a gift and can't post till she has it in hand.. so i'll be posting #4 next :)
I finished this one yesterday on the 2nd and I painted large for a daily challenge, so I'll be playing catch up here. Have #2 on the easel (my dog) and that is almost done. Painting like mad to have my paintings in line with the day of the month, but here I go! I love a good challenge!
This is painted from a friend of my Deb Sprague at Faith Hope Love Ranch in Oregon. 2 of her baby longhorns! Thank you Deb!
My entry for Nibblefest Art Contest (NFAC) on eBay ends tomorrow night. Theme is Creatures of the Night.
I LOVE foxes.. I have painted them before after having a family of fox live under our driveway in 2010 that spurred some fox paintings, so when this theme came along painting a fox was my first thought.
All entries start at 99cents (contest rules, no reserve!) and end on the 27th each month. You can always find my entries on eBay each month by searching "NFAC Sims"

Robert Southey poet.. painting by John James Masquerier ( 1800- public domain image)
Original acrylic painting for Nibblefest art contest theme of "Black and White"- February 2015
My entry is "Cowbert Moo-ney " based on poet laureate, Robert Southey's portrait , painted by John James Masquerier ( 1800- public domain image). Robert Southey was known for his poetry and documenting his dreams in letters, often based on death. What a coincidence!! Cowbert is also known to document dreams of death in a book of poetry and written tales of cattle that have left the ranch. Cowbert likes to munch on grass while recording these dreams.. T-bone, Sirloin and Meatloaf Moo-ney to name a few are in Cowberts book titled, "The Mad Cow Dairy"- by Cowbert Moo-ney
I painted this portrait of Cowbert just like his favorite poet Robert Southey. He was honored to be have his portrait painted.
NEW Polish Pottery Still Life painting and number 87 in the series (13 to go to #100!!!!!! Yay!!!)
Colored Daisies: Polish Pottery LXXXVII
6x12x1 3/8"
acrylic on canvas
varnished and ready to hang on a wall or display on a shelf! Deep canvas makes it easy to just stand on a shelf! :)
Ok.. I started this painting to be completed in January but then life got in the way. A very busy week and I just didn't have much time to paint but I did hope to finish this one in January to post in the challenge. I'll see if I can even add it to the challenge? Maybe it's too late. The thing about this challenge that is so wonderful is it gets me out of my painting lulls.. I have been in a bit of a funk since the end of 2014. I was really only completing my Nibblefest art contest entry each month. This year I'm wanting to blog more (yeah I know I've said that in the past). Facebook is making it harder and harder for art pages to be seen so maybe blogging more is the answer?
My goal this year is to work on my Polish Pottery still life series, add new items to my Etsy shop
( that I hope to announce soon) , paint more animals (great break in between still lives to not get burned out) and keep at my abstracts. Really enjoy the abstracts.
Anywho.. this would of been my 9th in January.. but I plan to keep up my painting momentum and blogging more.. So please follow my blog.
My 8th painting this month for 30 in 30 and also my Nibblefest contest entry for the (third letter in your first name theme). So for heAther , I am doing "A is for Apple" and on a Polish pottery plate in the flowering peacock pattern (pattern 166A- Zaklady).
5 day auction on eBay ending on the 27th and starting at 99cents, NO reserve!! Winners are the entries with most 'unique' or individual bidders, so if you like this painting! Bid.. very low start price! Great monthly art contest I enjoy participating in each month on eBay. Consider signing up for my newsletter to get my monthly entries and coupon codes.
Painting #7 for me this month was painted from a friends photo of a newborn baby longhorn cow named, Summer.. She said I could paint from her pics! Thank you Deb! I do really enjoy the cow paintings and need to go out and take some references myself. I do have a good reference photo I took and one day I will paint on a huge canvas! Can't wait! Nibblefest art contest on eBay painting is up next.. starting at 99cents no reserve.. stay tuned .. :)
Ok.. you are thinking it.. only 6 paintings? LOL.. yep! I have painted every single day so that is a good thing although some days I didn't paint for very long.. I didn't want to burn out too bad but I'm feeling behind to be honest. My personal goal is to paint every single day and at least get to 15 by end of month.. so i better step it up.. YIKES!!
Day 14 and only on my 5th painting! Yikes.. yes I need to step it up.. Making a personal goal to get to 15 paintings this month. I have painted everyday this month ,which is wonderful, as I haven't been doing that in way too long...so YAY!
My 5th painting is a Polish pottery still life painting. Cut up kiwi fruit and fork set on a Wiza daisy patterned plate. I love the patten of the pottery being the background of the fruit.. so fun to paint these patterns! I love the vibrant colors in this one.. a fun painting to do!
Been a hectic week and I'm behind and I doubt I'll have 30 paintings but I am painting everyday. Monday evening we were watching the Killing on Netflix and my 12yr old made popcorn and I was eating some and broke my tooth!! Yikes! 2 dental appointments and a crown later.. I'm posting my next painting, a Polish Pottery still life.. I'm trying to juggle the pottery still life with the abstracts I'm experimenting with so this will be a fun month.
Enough rambling. Here's my 3rd painting this month.
